Dr Ferran Pellisé is the director of the Spine Institute, which is a department of the Quirónsalud hospital in Barcelona. The institute has a multidisciplinary team of ten professionals with an integrated approach to all medical or surgical spinal conditions and diseases in children and adults.
Dr Pellisé is a spine surgeon with over 20 years’ experience, and he is the head of the spine unit at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona since 2014. He is also associate professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona; UAB).
His professional and research activities in the field of spinal surgery have gained the recognition of professional and scientific societies in the specialty. Dr Pellisé has been chairman of the spine Society of Europe “EuroSpine” (2012-2013), Chairman of the Spanish Spine Society “GEER” (2013-2015), Chairman of the Global Outreach Programme (GOP) Committee at the Scoliosis Research Society (2015-2017) and Deputy Editor of the European Spine Journal (2005-2015). In 2010, together with other european spine surgeons, he founded the european Spine Study Group, a leading international body in the research and treatment of adult scoliosis.
